NAWDO is the primary network for senior waste managers in unitary and upper tier local authorities and is an association of approaching 100 Waste Disposal Authorities across England and Wales. The main purposes of NAWDO are:
- to provide an opportunity to share experiences, knowledge and understanding of topical waste management issues;
- to share information, explore issues and develop strategies for achieving best practice solutions;
- to facilitate understanding of key factors (including legislation) which impact on waste, recycling and sustainable development, determine a position on major issues and lobby stakeholders to influence their standpoints and resultant policies.
Membership of NAWDO is open to representatives from all types of statutory Waste Disposal Authorities including London Boroughs, Metropolitan, Unitary and County Councils. If you are interested in joining, please contact us.
Meetings are held four times a year and include external representatives from such bodies as Defra, Environment Agency and Local Government Association. Speakers may be invited to attend to make presentations on topical waste management issues.
NAWDO members are also represented on a number of external bodies.
