NAWDO is the primary network for senior waste managers working for Waste Disposal Authorities in England and Wales with responsibility for the treatment and disposal of waste. Membership of NAWDO is open to representatives from all types of statutory Waste Disposal Authorities including London Boroughs, Metropolitan, Unitary and County Councils. The main aims of NAWDO are:

• To share information, experiences, knowledge and understanding of waste management issues;
• to facilitate understanding of key factors, including legislation, which impact on waste, recycling and sustainable development, determine a position on major issues and lobby stakeholders to influence their standpoints and resultant policies; and
• to develop strategies and best practice solutions for all forms of waste treatment including: energy from waste, composting, recycling and landfill.
